I’ve been using the Hellmann’s mayo in mince meat trick for quite a while, and it really makes burgers so much juicier. You can use this mayo trick with any kind of burger mixture, but my recipe for the spicy Asian burgers is below. It’s also another super easy recipe that requires no prep aside from just getting the ingredients! Enjoy!
Traveling around Europe is a good shout as you can usually find cheap deals for short breaks. There are so many different city’s and environments to see; if you’re based in the UK like me then you’re lucky we have easy access (for now #ScrewBrexit).
This is my little travel guide to Barcelona. We only went for 4D3N so definitely didn’t experience everything, but this will give you a good summary inshaAllah!
So I decided to start making lists for people to use if they have specific cravings. This first list is on the best joints to get fried chicken in London! Fried chicken is actually my favourite food ever so I have tried a lot of fried chicken. This list will be updated whenever I try somewhere new!
Halal Food London x Tom Hixson
Tom Hixson are a fine meat procurer established in 1963 at Smithfield Market. They specialised in sourcing exceptional produce, and have recently expanded into the Halal market! This year, I will be cooking with their Halal Turkey Butterfly. This Turkey is exceptionally great as it it an easy-carve boneless butterfly breast with skin AKA no deboning the Turkey or having to remove the innards etc- Perfect for people like me who want the least amount of work possible! Something else I would like to point out is that the Turkey is Free Range and with High Welfare standards.Continue reading Tom Hixson Halal Turkey
I love finding out which of the best non-halal joints actually do serve halal food. When I found out honest burgers have 2 halal sites (their Tooting & Baker Street branches) I was so eager to try it, especially as I know how popular this joint is to non-Muslims. These halal branches of honest burgers serve halal chicken only (no halal beef), and it’s all handled & cooked separately. All their sides are also gluten free and any of their burgers can be made to be gluten free too!
The second branch of the infamous Drunch opened in Regent’s Park, and serves halal dishes, from burgers to Italian burrata. We loved the atmosphere & decor of the place, as well as the fine dining experience. This branch is more spacious than the other, and has a different menu (however both still have their famous Drunch Cheesecake!).

Since it’s the festive season we thought we would get extra festive and order a turkey from Tom Hixson of Smithfield . They have been supplying meat for decades and are a trustworthy source of high quality meats. They actually sell a wide range of halal meats, and their high quality can be proven by the fact that they supply to manyyy high end restaurants in London!
Personally I don’t think it’s enough anymore for meat to just be ‘halal’, we should try and look at how the animal was raised too. The halal meats from Tom Hixson are free-range and grain-fed; I was more than happy to order a turkey from them after hearing this!
Gourmet Republik is a new burger joint that opened up before Ramadan, specializing in wagyu, angus and chicken burgers! They also serve grilled chicken and other sides, including some amazing hot wings.
Tabun Kitchen is one of London’s only places to eat authentic and Halal Palestinian cuisine. Their name comes from the Tabun Oven which has been a staple of Palestinian Cooking for many years. They offer a range of delicious dishes based on traditional dishes, all with new twists however!
We love their core message, as well as their food. Definitely give this place a try! P.S. a voluntary £1.00 per table will be added to your bill for the Galilee Foundation, which helps to educate Palestinians in Israel!
